Sworn & Certified Translation

Sworn and certified translation, between Turkish and four languages

When a document has to be official — accepted by a notary, a court, a ministry or a university — an ordinary translation isn’t enough. As a sworn translator certified under Turkish law, I produce translations that carry legal weight.

In short

If you're in a hurry, here's the essentials:

  • Sworn translations to and from Turkish, with French, English, German or Spanish.
  • For official documents: civil records, legal papers, diplomas, immigration files.
  • Certified under Turkish law, handled confidentially, with a clear quote up front.

Language pairs

I provide sworn translations in both directions:

Turkish ↔ French

Turkish ↔ English

Turkish ↔ German

Turkish ↔ Spanish

As a French native and a Turkish citizen who has trained and worked as a linguist for nearly two decades, I bridge these languages with the precision official documents demand.

Documents I handle

Whether you are moving country, getting married, studying abroad, going to court or signing a contract, I translate the paperwork that makes it official, including:

  • Birth, marriage and death certificates
  • Passports and residence permits
  • Citizenship and immigration files
  • Diplomas and academic transcripts
  • Contracts and powers of attorney
  • Court and company documents
  • Driving licences
  • Medical records and declarations

If your document isn’t listed here, just ask — chances are I can help.

What does "sworn" actually mean?

A sworn translation is one produced by a translator who has been officially authorised to certify their work. The translation is signed, stamped and declared a faithful rendering of the original, which is what allows authorities to accept it in place of the source document.

A standard translation tells you what a document says. A sworn translation lets you use it.

How it works

Send me your document

A clear scan or photo is enough to start. Tell me which language you need and where the translation will be used.

I send you a quote.

A clear price and timeline, with no obligation.

I translate and certify.

You then hand me over or send me your original document or a legalised copy of it. I will handle your document confidentially and translate it with care, then certify it as a sworn translation.

Note: If I do not have physical access to the original, the translation will mention that is was based on a digitial copy of said document.

You receive the certified translation.

You receive your document ready to submit, with any guidance you need on next steps, along with your original document if you made it available to me.

Why work with me?

I’m a French linguist trained at the Université Marc Bloch in Strasbourg, with a master’s in European plurilingualism and intercultural studies. I’ve worked as a professional translator for nearly twenty years, running my own registered practice since 2012, and I now live in Türkiye, where I’m certified to provide sworn translations. Alongside my client work I lead Programme Operations at the Open Language Initiative, a non-profit working to make knowledge accessible across languages.

Meticulous without being pedantic — that’s how I like to work, and how my clients describe it.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need a sworn translation rather than a standard one?

Whenever an official body asks for a “certified”, “sworn” or “official” translation — typically for legal, governmental, academic or immigration purposes. If you’re unsure, tell me how the document will be used and I’ll advise.

Will my sworn translation be accepted abroad?

Often a sworn translation needs an additional step — such as an apostille or legalisation — to be recognised in another country. Tell me the destination country and I’ll let you know what is usually required.

Which languages do you cover?

Turkish in both directions with French, English, German and Spanish.

How long does it take?

It depends on the length and complexity of the document. I’ll give you a realistic timeline with your quote, and I’m used to working to deadlines.

Is my information kept confidential?

Always. Your documents are handled privately and securely, and shared with no one.

Fill in as much as you can — there are no time limits, and you can come back to it. Only your name and email are required.

For example: what it is, roughly how long, and where it will be used.
